What is Lessonpills?

Lessonpills is a library of ready-made English lessons for teachers and learners. Each lesson takes one real video or a short dialogue and turns it into a complete 60 to 90 minute class: discussion questions, comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and practice exercises, all interactive and ready to open in a browser.

There are more than 330 lessons, from A1 to C2, with new ones added every week. Around 40 of them are free and open without an account.

Every lesson opens with warm-up questions, then the video or dialogue it is built around. This one is “The rise of coffee culture” (B2).

Who is it for?

  • English teachers and tutors who teach one-to-one or small groups and want a full lesson without an evening of preparation.
  • Language schools and corporate trainers who need business English material on topics such as meetings, negotiations, job interviews and customer service.
  • Independent learners who want structured practice around videos they would watch anyway.

What is inside a lesson?

Lessons follow the same order, so you always know where you are. A typical lesson has about eleven steps:

  1. Warm-up: questions to get students talking about the topic.
  2. Video or dialogue: the source, with a full script.
  3. Comprehension: questions with sample answers.
  4. Vocabulary: key words and expressions with definitions and examples.
  5. Practice: gap-fills, matching and error correction with instant feedback.
  6. Grammar: one grammar point taken from the source, explained and practised.
  7. Useful phrases: language for a real situation connected to the topic.
  8. Reading and discussion: a short text and speaking questions to finish.

Why teachers use it

  • No preparation. Open the lesson, share your screen or send the link, and start.
  • Real English. Lessons are built on authentic videos and natural dialogues, not invented textbook texts.
  • Every level. A1 to C2, with general English, business English and grammar-focused lessons.
  • Interactive. Exercises give feedback straight away, so they work in class and as homework.
  • Easy to share. Send any lesson to a student by link. They do not need to install anything.
